What happens during prenatal visits?

During prenatal visits at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC, expect the following:

Vital signs check

Your provider checks your weight, blood pressure, pulse, and other vital signs when you arrive at a prenatal appointment.

Medical history review

Your provider reviews your personal and family medical history. The first appointment often takes the longest.
They ask about your last menstrual period, symptoms, medications, history of pregnancies, medical conditions, and surgeries.
Your doctor also calculates your due date.

Physical examination

Your obstetrician completes a comprehensive physical exam, evaluating your breathing, heart rate, eyes, ears, throat, abdomen, and limbs.
They may also perform a pelvic exam and a Pap test when necessary.

Diagnostic testing

Your provider may recommend diagnostic testing at specific times during pregnancy, such as blood tests, urine tests, glucose tests,
prenatal testing, ultrasound, or other imaging procedures to evaluate your baby’s health and detect or rule out conditions.

Health education

Your provider offers advice to increase your chance of a healthy pregnancy, including recommendations about diet, exercise, supplements,
sleep, and lifestyle habits.

How often should I schedule pregnancy visits?

Your OB/GYN specialist will recommend how often to schedule pregnancy appointments based on your risk level. In general:

• Monthly before 28 weeks gestation
• Every two weeks at 28–36 weeks gestation
• Weekly after 36 weeks gestation

If your pregnancy is high-risk, your provider may recommend more frequent prenatal visits.
