A pelvic ultrasound uses sound waves to help your practitioner view the inside of your pelvic area,
which includes your uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix, vagina, and vulva.
The expert team at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC offers in-office,
state-of-the-art ultrasound technology to ensure you receive optimal care.
The practice is accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) in
gynecologic and obstetric ultrasound, and by the American College of Radiology (ACR), meeting
or exceeding nationally recognized standards for the highest quality of care.
Your OB/GYN specialist might recommend pelvic ultrasound if you’re pregnant, think you might be pregnant,
or experience unusual signs or symptoms of a women’s health problem, such as:
Ultrasound may also be used to detect the presence or position of an intrauterine device (IUD) or to evaluate
the health of your fetus during pregnancy.
Your OB/GYN team uses ultrasound to view the position, shape, and size of your ovaries and uterus.
They might evaluate the thickness of, or detect masses in, your uterus or fallopian tubes.
Your provider may also measure the thickness and length of your cervix, assess blood flow through pelvic organs,
and detect changes in the shape of your bladder.
During a transvaginal ultrasound, your OB/GYN specialist places a thin transducer coated with conducting gel
through your vagina to view pelvic organs and tissues.
With transabdominal ultrasound, your provider places gel on your abdomen and moves a transducer slowly
over the area to view organs inside your pelvis.
Pelvic ultrasound is fast, painless, and noninvasive. There’s no downtime after the procedure, so you can
resume your regular routine immediately.
After your provider at Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC evaluates your results,
they will review them with you and may recommend specific treatments such as lifestyle changes,
medications, or minimally invasive surgery.
If you’re pregnant or experiencing unusual symptoms associated with a women’s health condition,
contact Advanced Obstetrics & Gynecology, LLC by phone or book online today
to find out if pelvic ultrasound is right for you.
